The alphabet. Such an easy concept to teach to 4 and 5 year olds don’t you agree? As they all sit criss cross applesauce on the carpet, listening attentively as you go through all 52 uppercase and lowercase letters and their sounds. Don’t forget to talk about vowels too! I mean, this is just SO easy. People, NO. 9 times out of 10 when I teach something whole group I have to stop, tell someone to sit up, stop touching their friends, make better choices…you get the idea. Which is why I start to think that it is so important that we keep students engaged in their learning. When they are engaged, they are excited. That is why I created these foldable mini ABC books for my class. No prep, no mess and no staples. Have there ever been betters words spoken? I think not.
These foldable books are easy to prep and will keep your students engaged in their learning. Each book offers 3 fun, large clipart pictures that students may color. This will also help with their fine motor skills. Under each clipart is the word. Students can trace that word as well. This also helps with pencil grip, fine motor and handwriting skills. I know when I teach I like to get more than one standard done in a lesson so these will cover at least 3 for you.
This is what the book will look like when you print it. Making it easy to assemble!
Assembling them is easy peasy as well. Simply print, fold vertical, fold horizontal and you’re done. It doesn’t get better than that. If you do not want your students to color the pictures you can also print these on some fun astrobrights paper for them! They can be used as a mini reader.
The clipart in these books comes from the amazing Krista Wallden of CREATIVE CLIPS She creates clipart that is ascetically pleasing to catch the eyes of your students.
